Meeting point

Concrete tablet, and takeaway charcoal rubbing

Meeting point was developed as a response to the history of cruising culture. The work was created as this idea of creating a tablet or a marker as a recognizable point in which two forms come together. Similar to the charcoal touching the paper or the paper touching the stone. In the act of the take away the meeting point is removed from existing as a singular and becomes something which exists in the many.

And After That We Didnt See Each Other Much is composed of work examining roles of iconic masculinity and sentimentality challenging notions of sexuality, the past, loss, and queer identity. Blue jeans and white shirt were this fabricated uniform of masculinity, through its connections to idealistic men like James Dean, Bruce Springsteen, or Steve McQueen. It was the look of the liberated urban man. Tight Fitting white shirt tucked into tight fitting blue jeans, evokes the expression of the nostalgic sexual male. I use this as an abundantly overly romanticized nostalgic expression of male sexuality and a means to explore the absent male body and as an act of silent rebellion in claiming these iconic images of nostalgic masculinity as queer and sentimental.
